About Us ...

We believe each person is good, a unique expression of God. Our hope is to provide an environment where each woman can come to realize her own goodness, and hence, the goodness of God.
Emmaus is funded entirely by donations and is tax exempt, non-profit charitable 501(c) 3 agency. Contributors so far include churches, church organizations, individuals, church members, one anonymous trust, several foundations, local organizations, schools and friends.
Emmaus House is a faith story, a modern day miracle, a 27 year witness to the goodness of God expressed through hundreds of believers.
Almost everything that you see at Emmaus House has been donated — furniture, rugs, wall hangings, appliances, etc… All given to us. Perhaps you see a familiar piece that once was in your family's home. And, because so many gift us, we are able to pass on the blessing. To date, we have had over 900 guest stays at Emmaus, with some women repeating. The average stay is 7 to 8 months. The longest stay has been six years.

The name "Emmaus" is from the Bible,
Luke 24:13-34.

In the Bible, it designates the story of Jesus who walks with two of His disciples returning home from Jerusalem on the "road to Emmaus", a city. Our hope is that our women while here, will meet Jesus on their journey toward a better life.
