Other individuals who added to our holiday celebration include the following.
Bud and Caroline Roggow gave us two live trees. Ruth Ann Leach made scarves for the women. Pat and Tyne Davis brought boxes of gifts. Top Ladies of Distinction and Top Teens brought a clothes basket of household products for each of our twelve houses. Dan and Alyce Wechter donated a van full of food including turkeys and hams so we could give food baskets to those needing such.  28 households were helped. Ginger Marx engineered a project to provide each woman here with a gift of their choice.
Barb Slodowski made a bag of goodies for each woman. Eleanor Finger handmade 52 fleece blankets and 18 scarves.  Eleanor is known as the Saginaw blanket lady. Phyllis Thorne and Tyana McDaniel organized and tagged all of the gifts, often working until 11 PM or later. Our “wrapping crew” spent hours and hours wrapping gifts. Vikki Call organized our huge Christmas decoration give-away – giving away all of the trees, decorations and ornaments that we had collected since last Christmas.  Over 100 people got Christmas items.

Food for our Christmas Season came from:
Butter Crust Bakery, Barb Slodowski’s gleanings, Caseville United Methodist Church (turkey dinner in abundance), Kraniaks (half a pig and eggs), St. Matthew Church (2 turkeys), First Ward Community Center, Hidden Harvest, St. Helen Church (canned goods and turkeys), St. Thomas Aquinas Church (turkeys), Baynes Apple Farm (lots of apples), Scott Johnson (cases of pizza), and venison from hunters – Fathers Dave Parsch, Jack Johnson, John Cotter and Don Guyman.  Many other individuals brought “treats” of every variety – candy, homemade goodies, etc . . . even an amaryllis.

There are many others who helped us celebrate this Christmas Season, who came to share and gift us, but who, in the hustle and bustle failed to be recorded or chose to be anonymous.

For all who enabled our Christmas, we say “thank you.”

Thank you, God-With-Us and thank you, people of God.

We Remember:

Several in our “family” have experienced the pain of loss during these past two months.  Dawn S., ex-guest, lost her mom on 11/11, Iris Carter, ex-guest, lost her mother and brother on 12/9, Kelly C., ex-guest, lost her dad in early Dec., and on 12/12 Gabriel Engel, Sister Marietta’s grandnephew, was born on earth and immediately carried into the arms of God.

We offer our prayers and sympathy to each family and trust that our loved ones celebrated real Christmas this year, face-to-face with God.

“Remember that when you leave this earth you can take with you
nothing that you have received . . . but only what you have given:
a full heart, enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice, and courage.”

St. Francis of Assisi
