Needs

We could still use other volunteers to help Sister Kateri at the Resource Center or to fill in when she’s not there.

New Adventures

Currently we are undertaking a “Baby Project.”  We have noticed that many poor moms do not have essentials for their babies.  Our hope is to help fill this gap.  We’re collecting gently used baby clothes and baby items.  Anyone is welcome to contribute or come to help assemble items into layettes.  We did receive an anonymous private donation to help get this project up and running.

Our second adventure, which you may have seen mentioned in the Saginaw News (Dec. 27) is launching a reading/story hour for pre-schoolers in the neighborhood.  We’ve moved the start of this program to April as we wish to have training for those who want to be involved.  Volunteers are needed to act as teacher’s aids.  Call or email Carolyn Maksimowicz, 989 799-9282 or kttyk412@sbcglobal,net, if you are interested and willing.  The time commitment, after training, would be about 2-3 hrs/wk, or if enough volunteers, maybe that amount once per month.  Our little children need help.

We are also having a silent auction and benefit dinner in October at the Horizons Conference Center in Saginaw. The dinner/artistic silent auction proceeds will benefit Emmaus House and help us to do more wonderful community projects like our Baby Project and Reading/Story hour. We are looking for silent auction items and you can contact us directly at (989) 755-7538 or contact Jean Seman at (989) 792-2011 for more details. More information can also be found on our Silent Auction page.

Help at the Pump

Anyone who shops at Kroger’s can help.  Just press in our phone number, 989 295-1703 or 989 755-7538, at the register.  Cashier will help if you’re uncertain.  Thank you to those who’ve been pressing in our number. Thank you, too, to the anonymous donor who bought us some new gas cans, requested in our Nov. newsletter.

Used grocery bags.  When we give out bread, food, clothes, etc., every person who receives such wants a bag. We use hundreds a week.
